FREEBO!

Freebo Live.
Melbourne, FL
4-19-08

YES!~
World Class Musician, and Friend FREEBO makes what seems his 10th appearance here in Brevard in about as many years. And we always welcome his return with open arms!

Freebo, if you don't already know is a top bassist/sideman (having worked with Bonnie Raitt, John Mayall, CSN, Maria Muldaur, Ringo Starr and many others). He's also an award-winning singer/songwriter (L.A. Music Awards “Best Folk Artist”, winner ’07 South Florida Folk Festival Songwriting Contest, 5 nominations in 5 categories JPF Awards, 2 songs in top 10 of International Songwriting Contest).

We had Freebo perform at Kool Beanz several times. The first time sharing the stage with John Hall and Robbie Dupree, then debuting the first solo disc of his career "The End of The Beginning". If you've not had a chance to see him, this show is a must. Besides being one the most talented musicians I know, Freebo is funny, warm, outspoken, and has a great command of the stage.

Since then, he has release several more wonderful discs including "Dog People", and "Before the Separation".

Here are a few performance clips from the interview for your listening pleasure. One of my favorite festivals in the great state of Florida, a) because they have an awsome line-up each year, b) the people are great, and c) because I had the good fortune to design the festival artwork 3 years in a row (2000-02).

The festival has been on hiatus since FEMA comandeered the fest's home Easterlin Park to help folks ravaged by those horrible hurricanes several years back.

Freebo started his career together with Bonnie Raitt, then spent a decade as a top rated session man/touring musician, working with artists ranging from John Mayall, Crosby Stills & Nash, and Ringo. His distictive bass and backing vocals stand out on the classic "Midnight at The Oasis" by Maria Muldaur...His tuba performances with Dr. John and the Spinal Tap are legendary! In the late '90's Freebo broke loose with the first of three solo CDs: 1999's "The End Of The Beginning," 2002's "Dog People" (songs about the human/canine connection), and his latest in 2006, the awesome "Before The Separation".

Last year Freebo won the prestigious South Florida Folk Festival Songwriting Competition.
