ERIC BURDON & FRAMPTON Live In Concert!

ERIC BURDON & THE ANIMALS
IN CONCERT

Thursday October 6th, 2011 - Seminole Hard Rock, Florida

photos by "Java" John Goldacer

"The House of The Rising Sun" by Eric Burdon & the Animals came out during the 1st British Invaision in 1964, when I was 4yrs old.

And I played the hell out of the "Spill the Wine" 45rpm...the smash hit by Eric Burdon and his new band WAR, when it came out in 1970!

In the mid 2000's I rediscovered the awesomeness that is ERIC BURDON by way of his two incredible studio albums "My Secret Life", and "Soul of a Man" that my friend FRED MIGLIORE turned me onto.

Earlier this year, in February, I had the distinct pleasure ofinterviewing Mr. Burdon for my radio show "On The FlipSide" which will finally air in December! - (more about that below.)

BUT, I had never had the chance to see The Man perform LIVE. That is until....

Thursday October 6th 2011!
Lemme tell ya, it was quite worth the wait!
One of the greatest voices in Rock and Roll still KICKS ASS!

Eric (and The Animals) Rocked the Roll, and Soul and Blues during a solid hour and 45 minute set to an ecstatic crowd at the Seminole Hard Rock in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

The Animal came out shortly before Eric, starting the opening riffs of "When I Was Young" the extended version showed that Eric was in fine form (and looking quite fit as well)...then they ripped into a one-two punch of "Don't Bring Me Down" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood"!

During the psychedelic classic "San Fransisco Nights" (from the Summer of Love) you could almost smell the patchouli and weed in the air (or maybe that wasn't my imagination!).

A few tunes later, I was overjoyed that Eric decided to include a lengthy jam of "River Deep, Mountain High" in the set. A song that Tina Turner killed (in a good way) in '66, but Eric brought back to life and murdered(!) in '68 and again on this night!

Toward the end of the show, "We Gotta Get Outta This Place" had the whole crowd singing at the top of their lungs, and by the time the band came out for the encores we were ready for "The House of The Rising Sun", which kicked off with a beautiful acoustic lead in, then Eric singing his heart out! The crowd (and I were delighted) by the whole performance...

Now with a Live Album, and a CD of new material on the way soon, I can't wait to see Eric perform his solo material!

Thank you for everything Mr. Burdon, you are a true Gentleman!

PETER FRAMPTON
FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE 35

Tuesday October 11th, 2011 - Hard Rock, ORLANDO

photos by "Java" John Goldacer

The last time I saw Peter Frampton in concert was September 3rd, 1977, when he was touring behind the FRAMPTON COMES ALIVE! album in 1977 (we also saw him play there in September '76 on the same tour, although mostly from a rooftop across the street!).
That show was at the Miami Baseball Stadium, and the show was open by the "Dreamweaver" himself, Gary Wright. What a show! (video below)

In Orlando, 2011 Peter did not disappoint, again! The show highlighted the 35th Anniversary of the ' Comes Alive!' album, playing it in it's entirety, and flawlessly, in the 1st set!
Peter looks great, and sounds great (though he's lots his famous locks!), and seems like his is truly having a great time. At 61, he's still playing the hell outta that guitar.

The second set consisted of several tunes from his great new CD "Thank You Mr. Churchill). Some instrumentals, and another HUMBLE PIE song - "Four Day Creep"....with some very cool old video.

The Encores were the stellar cover of SOUNDGARDEN'S "Black Hole Sun", from his Grammy Winning 2006 CD FINGERPRINTS. And then a very groovy cover of THE BEATLES "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".

set 1:
Something's Happening
Doobie Wah
Lines On My Face
Show Me The Way

It's a Plain Shame

Wind Of Change

LinkI Wanna Go To The Sun
I'll Give You Money

Shine On -
(Humble Pie song)
Do You Feel Like We Do

Jumpin' Jack Flash -
(The Rolling Stones cover)
set 2:

JAMES and BEN TAYLOR In Concert!!

JAMES TAYLOR IN CONCERT!
With Special Guest Ben Taylor
Jacksonville -March 22nd, 2011

Last Tuesday night I had the distinct pleasure of
photographing James Taylor and his son Ben in concert
at The Moran Theater in Jacksonville.

James and Ben sound wonderful together, as you might expect.
It makes me think that it would be awesome to see more
of the Taylor clan tour together in the future!

The show was sold out, and being approved as a press
photographer, I was only permitted to shoot and be in the
building for the first 3 songs! But, it was worth it,
and I am truly grateful to to James, Ben and the
Moran for all of their assistance!

This one's for Jen....

Before the show, I ran into Ben Taylor outside
his bus...he said he was very excited to be on
tour with his dad, and promised to do an
interview with me soon, so watch for that!

In January, I shot James' younger brother Livingston
at his performance here in Florida. Larry Hoppen
of ORLEANS joined me, and I caught this great pic
of he and Liv singing "Still The One" backstage
before showtime. What a great bunch of guys!

Jennifer and I with JT backstage at The King Center,
January 1996.
And with Livingston the following year.

My portraits of James and Liv, signed by both.
