ELVIS COSTELLO - Melbourne, FL - April 23rd, 2012

ELVIS COSTELLO and The Imposters
IN CONCERT!
The King Center for Performing Arts
Melbourne, Florida - April, 23rd, 2012

"Now that your picture's in the paper being rhythmically admired
and you can have anyone that you have ever desired,
all you gotta tell me now is why, why, why, why
......"

From first time I heard those opening lines of Elvis Costello's "Welcome to the Working Week",
(the opening track for his debut album MY AIM IS TRUE released in March '78),
to the majestic closing track "Watching The Detectives" I was hooked!

Although it took nearly exactly 34 years later for me to finally see
Mr. Costello perform live, it was truly well worth the wait.
So much in fact, I wish I went to the next show too!

Elvis is currently in the middle of his REVOLVER TOUR (a concept
he's revived after 24 years), and he is showing no signs of slowing down.

In the 'Wheel' tour format, Elvis typically opens 4-5 preselected tunes.
In this case I Hope You're Happy Now, Heart Of The City, Mystery Dance, and Radio Radio.

Then his assistant Leslie pulls someone out of the audience to spin the wheel.
The spins of the wheel could determine either song titles or themes.

The first spin in Melbourne landed on the "I Can Sing A Rainbow" jackpot...
from that selection Elvis performed Greenshirt, Red Shoes, and Almost Blue.

The third 'contestant' selected turned out to be our friend (and fellow WFIT
radio announcer "The Sandman", Jack Garrison!

Sandman landed on the theme "Time" from which The King performed
Strict Time, Man Out Of Time, and Out Of Time (the Stones cover!.)
Jack was invited to sit in the 'society lounge', and enjoy a beverage, but it wasn't
long before he made his way to the 'Hostage d'fortune' Go-Go Cage'! He done us proud.
